This is the Research Report /Literature Review connected to the capstone project course in the Computer Science COMP589 and Artificial Intelligence AIML589. By completing these courses, you should be able to:

  1. show evidence of advanced knowledge about Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence
  2. demonstrate mastery of sophisticated theoretical subject matter
  3. evaluate critically the findings and discussions in the literature (501)
  4. research, analyse and argue from evidence (589)
  5. work independently and apply knowledge to new situations (589 & 501)
  6. engage in rigorous intellectual analysis, criticism and problem-solving. (589)

Requirements

COMP501/AIML501:
  • You must submit a final literature review report. The length of the report should not exceed 10,000 words.

COMP589/AIML589:
  • You must submit a final report. The length of the report should not exceed 15,000 words (if you combine the 501 and 589 reports into a single report, the report should not exceed 25,000 words).
  • You must deliver a 15-minute presentation for your 589 project.
  • You are highly recommended to submit the project proposal and the project progress report.

  • COMP501/AIML501: Final report 100%
  • COMP589/AIML589: Final report 100%

If you submit a combined report, please submit the combined one to 589 links.

Timeline

You should maintain regular meetings with your superviors, at least once every 2 weeks.

Doing 501 and 589 in one Trimester:
  • Week 1: Project Selection
  • Week 2: Project Allocation
  • Week 4: COMP/AIML 589 project proposal dues
  • End of mid-trimester break: COMP/AIML 589 progress report dues
  • Week 11: COMP/AIML 589 drafts should be submitted to supervisors
  • First exam week (i.e., week 14): Final COMP/AIML 589 submission
Doing 501 and 589 in two Trimesters:

COMP/AIML 501:
  • Week 1: Project Selection
