RiverWatch Update

The Faculty of Engineering and Water Action Initiative New Zealand (WaiNZ) invite you to a presentation on how RiverWatch is enabling the crowd sourcing of data on New Zealand’s rivers and streams. RiverWatch is a collaborative project developed by 3rd year engineering students with WaiNZ. Students are building an integrated data collection system comprising phone apps, water quality testing devices and unmanned aerial vehicle platforms to empower the public to take direct action. The phone apps enable anyone with a smartphone to provide accurate photographic evidence of pollution. Follow-up action with new aerial vehicles and water quality testing devices provides further evidence of stock in waterways, pollution discharge and poor water quality.
