RiverWatch Project Launch - 31 Jul 2013 10am

Victoria University and Water Action Initiative New Zealand (Wainz) invite you to the presentation and launch of River Watch, a collaborative project developed by 3rd year engineering students with Wainz. The River Watch project required the development of phone apps and unmanned aerial vehicle platforms to gather data. Students have also developed a multi-functional website as a collection base for the data, photos and reports. The public will be able to take direct action when they encounter pollution, by using their smartphones. The app will take a picture with accurate GPS location automatically sending it and any reports to the Wainz website. The unmanned aerial vehicle with mounted cameras pinpoints pollution discharge and stock in waterways, monitoring the state of our rivers, lakes and streams.

Venue: Council Chambers, Hunter Building, Kelburn Parade.
