Biography
Andrew Chalmers is a Lecturer in Software Engineering, specializing in lighting and reflectance modelling, machine learning, virtual/augmented/mixed reality (VR/AR/MR), and real-time rendering. He has contributed to the Computer Graphics community, including SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, and Pacific Graphics. He is a co-founder of Wellington-based startup DreamFlux and has been credited in feature films for his research with Wētā FX (formerly known as Wētā Digital).Andrew received a double degree (BA and BSc with Honours) in 2013, and completed his PhD degree (advised by Associate Professor Taehyun Rhee and Associate Professor John Lewis) in 2017 at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), New Zealand.
Andrew previously worked as a Postdoc (2017-2022) and Research Fellow (2022-2024) at VUW's Computational Media Innovation Centre (CMIC) and the University of Melbourne's School of Computing and Information Systems.
