Help for the NCEA Level 3 Computer Science Standards

Getting help for the new NCEA Digital Technologies Level 3 Computer Science Standard

Victoria University and Canterbury University are providing this help service for NZ secondary school teachers who are teaching courses that include the new Level 3 Digital Technology standard in Computer Science: AS91636 "Demonstrate understanding of areas of computer science".

The help service will attempt to answer email enquiries from NZ teachers about any aspect of teaching this new standard.

  • Make sure that you include what school you are teaching at - it is really helpful to us to build a good picture of where the standard is being used around the country.
  • If possible, use a name@....school.nz email address.
    We do not have the resources to answer any questions directly from students and we also don't want to be giving answers to your students that you don't know about, so we need to be sure you are an NZ teacher. You could include another email address in your message if you prefer to use that for later questions.
  • If you don't have a @...school.nz email address, please give some other confirmation that you are a teacher (such as a link to a school web page that includes your name).

We will do our best to respond within 24 hours, but our resources are limited and this will not always be possible.

Resources
The most important resource for helping with teaching this standard is the Computer Science Fieldguide being created at Canterbury University, with support from Google.

There are lots of other resources on the NZACDITT website. (We strongly encourage you to join NZACDITT if you are a digital technologies teacher.)
