Faculty of Engineering Postgraduate Student Support

The Faculty of Engineering Postgraduate Research Grant (PGRG) aims to support the essential research needs and academic development of postgraduate (PhD and thesis-based Masters) students in the Faculty to complete their degree in due time.

The overall goal of the PGRG is to enhance research quality, quantity, and impact of the University. In alignment with Mai i te Iho ki te Pae, Victoria’s Māori Strategic Outcomes Framework, the Faculty is particularly committed to supporting research that engages constructively with Mātauranga Māori.

There will be three application rounds in 2024, closing on the following dates:

  • 1st April (current round)
  • 1st July
  • 1st October

Late submissions will not be considered.

Assessment Criteria

The applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Essence to degree completion
  • Alignment with University research priorities and Mātauranga Māori
  • Expected outputs (e.g., quality and quantity of publications, PBRF outputs)
  • Amount of PGRG support received so far
