I will review the basic ingredients of Individual Based Models of collective social phenomena with special emphasis on the imitation mechanism of interaction and the question of coupled dynamics of states of the nodes and the topology of the complex network of interactions. I will consider social imitation described by a Voter Model and strategic imitation described by a Coordination Game. I will discuss the dynamics towards consensus states and address the issue of Pareto or Risk-dominant equilibrium selection.
