Abstract
Over the last decade, the Digital field of Engineering has seen a casuistry of disasters due to Engineering Ethics (EE) negligence. More so, there is a perception that students trivialise the necessity of the study of EE to their profession, whereas an engineer's behaviour, decision, and actions when faced with certain situations and dilemmas are of uttermost importance. As a result, engineering bodies such as the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) (under the Washington Accord) [1] and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) [2] have made it a requirement for Engineering institutions to include EE in their curriculum. In New Zealand, several methods such as case studies and classroom lectures have been used to teach EE. Nonetheless, they have their limitations. This research proposes Game-Based Learning as a new method to teach EE in New Zealand. This proposed method will aid New Zealand institutions better in producing ethically educated graduates.
