Periodically on Autocat, someone asks the question about free or cheap software for community groups to use to catalogue their collections. We had another one on Catsig today.
Reading the lastest round on Autocat it seems that someone has established a wiki to keep all the best suggestions in a single place.
In response we have created a page on DescribeNZ to encourage a central place to record links, information and share discussion
http://nznuc-cataloguing.pbworks.com/w/page/52449264/Free%20Cataloguing%20Software
To kick start things on the page we've included a link to the wiki mentioned on Autocat.
Please sign-up to DescribeNZ and contribute your suggestions and feedback.
Thankyou to Charlotte Stretton for the suggestion of setting up a page on DescribeNZ.

Hi,
I am looking at setting up a private library to be accessible to the general public online. It will be specifically built around books of Christian spirituality. Does anyone have any advice on what computer cataloguing system would best
suit? Initially it would start with around 5000 books but grow to an indeterminable number. Problems at this stage: funding - it will be coming out of my limited bank account until benefactors choose to come forward and help. Another related question is: do
these systems have a one-off payment or regular fees?
If anyone is able to enlighten me I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Marcel Bormans
