Hi Kate,
Here at the Auckland University Library we catalogue a fair
amount of e-books. We follow the usual practice (LC Rule
Interpretation 1.11A) and catalogue e-book as a
reproduction if it was
previously published in print form. In that case data about
e-version goes in 533. However, if the book is "born digital" there is not
need to use 533.
Hope
this is going to be of use to you. Please feel free to contact me if you need
more help.
Kind
regards,
Ksenija

1883-2008: Celebrating 125 Years
Hi there,
I'm a New Zealand librarian currently living in
Mexico City. I recently started working for a company that sells e books and e
book software to libraries in Latin America (the Overdrive software that
Auckland City Libraries has). Part of my job is
to create MARC records for the e books that the company sells via Overdrive. I'm
relatively new to cataloguing, and as there are no other librarians here in the
company, I'm wondering if someone on this list
would be kind enough to help me with a query relating to the cataloguing of e
books (more specifically field 533). I've searched the internet but can't find
an exact answer to my question.
If there is someone out there who has
experience in cataloguing e books, and would be willing to help me
with a (very brief!) question, (or can advise me who I might approach), I
would love to hear from you at kinnes@librisite.com.
Many thanks and warm regards from
Mexico,
