Some eagle-eyed cataloguers may have noticed that the NUC now contains a few RDA records. These records were created in OCLC's WorldCat during the US National Libraries testing of RDA and have been downloaded to the NUC as part of standard cataloguing activities.

While RDA is still in its pre-implementation phase the National Library is not planning any changes to these records. The reasons for this are:

1. There are relatively few RDA records in the NUC at present and there is no reason to believe that they will cause problems for New Zealand libraries

2. International decisions around RDA implementation are imminent and making changes to records at this stage could mean that other work would be needed later. The records are easily identifiable should they need to be altered.

If RDA records are an issue in your local system then please change the records in your system only.

 Regards

Chris Todd
