Subject: [rdaaust] Register now for next week's LRM in a Nutshell webinar

Dear Colleagues, (apologies for cross-posting and repeat posting)

It is not too late to register for the first of our webinar series, LRM (Library Reference Model) in a Nutshell, which will be held on 5 July 2018. Information about the webinar is below – we hope you can join us!

Last week RDA rolled out a beta version of the new, revised RDA Toolkit with a very different ‘look and feel’. Changes to the Toolkit reflect the approach and content of RDA’s new conceptual model, the ‘LRM’ (Library Reference Model). Although it will be more than a year before the old Toolkit is decommissioned, you should begin preparing for this change now. To guide you through the process, Lynn Farkas Information Services is pleased to offer a series of webinars on Getting Ready for RDA ‘2.0’.

Our webinars are an excellent way to keep up to date with developments in RDA. They are easy to participate in and an efficient way to be trained without having to leave your work area. Our first webinar, LRM in a Nutshell, will focus on the Library Reference Model (LRM) which forms the basis for RDA’s changes. Course details are below.

Course title:      LRM (Library Reference Model) in a Nutshell
Venue:               Interactive online Webinar session accessed from your desktop.
Duration:          1.5 hours
Presenters:        Lynn Farkas, Helen Rowe
Date:                  Thursday 5 July 2018
Time:                  11.00am - 12.30pm, Australian Eastern Standard time

Participation:    If you have never attended a webinar, we’ll send you details of what to expect.
There will be time allocated to answer questions.

Summary:

The webinar will cover:

  • Background to LRM
  • Why LRM was developed
  • What’s the same in the new LRM model
  • What’s different and what’s changed
  • What’s new in LRM
  • Implications for RDA Toolkit use.

Some of you may remember our ‘RDA Awareness’ webinar series in 2013/14, which introduced RDA to Australia’s cataloguing staff and library managers. This new series will continue our mission to demystify RDA for Australian cataloguers. Please note that we will also be offering face-to-face training for cataloguers, focusing on the practical details of using the new RDA Toolkit, in late 2018 and throughout 2019 in various locations around Australia.

The Presenters

Our presenters, Lynn Farkas and Helen Rowe, are experienced cataloguers, qualified trainers and designated RDA trainers. They are the authors of the practical workbook ‘Cataloging the RDA Way’ which is used in librarianship courses throughout Australia, Canada and the United States. Lynn and Helen have delivered webinars and face-to-face RDA training to many hundreds of librarian and technician cataloguers across Australia and New Zealand.
