(Apologies for cross-posting) We are seeking additional participants for a web-based survey relating to current use and past uses of the Functions of New Zealand (FONZ) and/or the Subjects of New Zealand (SONZ) thesauri. Information about access to the survey pages was sent on Thursday (6 Dec.) to individuals who have previously indicated their willingness to participate. If you did not receive the survey's access information last week - and you are using or have used the FONZ and/or SONZ thesauri for any purposes, or have chosen another option instead of FONZ and SONZ - please contact me (dan.dorner@vuw.ac.nz mailto:dan.dorner@vuw.ac.nz ) and I will arrange for your access to the survey. Or if you know someone else in your organisation (e.g., cataloguers, indexers, portal builders or website managers) with relevant experience with these thesauri please ask them to contact me to obtain the access information. Note that we are undertaking this survey on behalf of the State Services Commission (SSC) and Archives New Zealand to assist them in making informed decisions about the future of FONZ and SONZ given recent changes to the New Zealand Government Portal, newzealand.govt.nz. Our objectives for his survey are: · to identify the current uses being made of FONZ and/or SONZ; · to establish the reasons behind the uses or the non-use of FONZ and/or SONZ; and · to gather suggestions for changes to FONZ and/or SONZ that would enhance current uses or generate new uses of either or both of them. The project is being carried out by a team from the School of Information Management at Victoria University of Wellington consisting of Dr. Dan Dorner (Senior Lecturer), and Mr Alan Gray and Ms Magalie Le Gac (Research Assistants). The results of the survey therefore may also be used for academic publications and conference presentations. We look forward to hearing from you.
