Recently the Library of Congress has made changes to their current subject headings relating to Lake Ontario, altering these to:

* America, Lake (N.Y. and Ont.)

* America, Lake, Region (N.Y. and Ont.)

* America, Lake, Watershed (N.Y. and Ont.)

The National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa uses Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) in the records we create. Our library systems vendor, Ex Libris, loads LCSH into the Community zone of Alma. Changes to headings are automatically reflected in all Ex Libris libraries who use LCSH as a subject thesaurus.

We have created local authority records for the LCSH subject headings associated with Lake Ontario and we will use these for all records in our catalogue to which they apply:

* Ontario, Lake (N.Y. and Ont.)

* Ontario, Lake, Region (N.Y. and Ont.)

* Ontario, Lake, Watershed (N.Y. and Ont.)

The National Library of New Zealand continues to keep a watching brief on any further changes that may be proposed for the LCSH.
