Assistant Librarian, Cataloguing Department, Te Tari Whakaraarangi Matatiki, General Library. Level 5, full-time, permanent position. The job involves providing library users with excellent access to a wide range of resources, and working with a variety of print and electronic formats. If you would like to develop expertise with emerging technologies, improve your knowledge about the organization of information and metadata in the Internet age, and expand your skills in one of the oldest functions in library information science, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for someone with: · degree and professional library qualification, and minimum of two years experience as a cataloguer working with a cataloguing utility · thorough knowledge of current cataloguing standards and tools (AACR2, MARC21, LCSH, LCNA, Dewey 22) · some knowledge of other classification schemes such as LC Classification, and other standards such as Dublin Core · interest in new developments in information technology relating to cataloguing, in particular FRBR and RDA · reading knowledge of foreign languages, in particular European languages.
