Hi Paul,

I hope the following helps- here is the link to National Library's policy on form and genre headings

NLNZ are still using the gsafd thesaurus to assign literary genres. If you search for there is currently no authority for the lcgft literary genre term Science fiction.
So we would assign 655 7 |a Science fiction.|2 gsafd

Where sections of the LCGFT project have been completed the authorites are available on the NUC. For interest if you do a subject search on the genre term Cookbooks you will see there is an Auf/Ref authorized lcgft heading 655 7 Cookbooks.|2 lcgft.

We've found the following very helpful: FAQ about Library of Congress Genre/Form Terms for Library and Archival Materials (LCGFT)

Have a look at Q9 and Q20 in relation to your question.

There is also more general info and timelines for the project on LCs Genre Form Headings Homepage

Looking at the timeline and announcements it seems literature is still in progress.

Warm regards

Subject: [CatSIG] lcgft

Is it correct to use the subject heading
655 7 Science fiction. $2 lcgft ?

>From what I've seen gsafd is currently used for fiction instead of lcgft. We wondered if that had been updated.
