COVID-19 Contingency Plan

The course involves design, development and evaluation of a capstone project. In most of the cases this would be an individual project and require interactions with staff members / industry partners / other participants such as volunteers for evaluation.

Given this distinct nature of the course as compared to lecture-based courses, listed below are the components which may require in-person attendance. For some of these we have alternative plans in place; for other components, your supervisor and you need to identify contingency plans for any COVID related complications:

a) Lectures

  • The course includes a few lectures scattered over the 2 Trimesters (mostly in the Trimester 1) to guide you through the course expectations and process.
  • These will be delivered in person, streamed live over Zoom and recorded.

b) Project Requirements

  • Some projects may require resources which are available only at the University (e.g. some ECEN/ EEEN based projects) .
  • You need to meet with your supervisor to work through a COVID contingency plan for such projects.

c) Weekly meetings

  • In most cases, these could be conducted over Zoom if necessary. Contact your supervisors to work on a possible plan.

d) Mid-year presentation to your supervisor

  • In most cases, these could be conducted over Zoom if necessary.

e) Project Evaluation

  • If you plan to employ volunteers for your project evaluation and require them to be present in-person (e.g. for evaluation of user experience of a VR project), you should have a contingency plan in place for a situation where you may not be able to proceed with in-person evaluations.

f) Final presentation

  • If possible, we will do all the final presentations in-person, possibly with reduced audiences to fit within lecture room capacities. In the worst case scenario, we will conduct the final presentations over Zoom.

Please note that based on your project requirements there could be other situations which may require in-person interactions. Think about them, discuss contingency plans with your supervisor and document them in your proposal (due in Week 5).
