  About WiDS New Zealand  

WiDS New Zealand is an independent event organized by WiDS Ambassadors at Victoria University of Wellington to coincide with the annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide Conference  held at Stanford University and an estimated 150+ locations worldwide. All genders are invited to attend WiDS events, which feature outstanding women doing outstanding work.

The WiDS Worldwide Conference aims to inspire and educate data scientists around the world, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. This technical conference provides an opportunity to hear about the latest data science related research and applications in a number of domains, and connect with others in the field. 

Women in Data Science New Zealand 2023 will be hosted at Victoria University of Wellington on 27 June 2023.  WiDS features outstanding women working in the field of Data Science.  All speakers are thought leaders from industry, academia, finance, government, and nonprofit organisations talking about everything from data ethics and privacy, healthcare, data visualization and more.

The aim is to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide regardless of gender, and support women in the field. This annual event established in 2015 is held at Stanford University and 150+ locations throughout the world and hosted by WiDS Ambassadors. 

Sponsorship enables us to cover the costs of running the WiDS NZ 2023, keep the event free to attend for all genders interested in data science and continue to offer WiDS New Zealand scholarships to women studying data science at Victoria University of Wellington in 2023.  

This year WiDS NZ will be a hybrid in person and online event at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University Kelburn campus onsite on Tuesday 27 June 2023.  We are excited to bring back in person events.  And will also be presenting the WiDS 2023 scholarship awards at the event.
