After completing his Bachelor of Engineering, Tristram immediately secured a job at Damwatch Services Ltd, a consultancy firm specializing in dam engineering. “Right now I’m on a graduate programme working as a technical data analyst in the surveillance team. We monitor our clients’ data from dams and wind farms, both nationwide and internationally, and provide advice on performance and safety. Eventually I want to become a professional chartered engineer (which I can do through my job) and gain some experience in the engineering industry.”

Tristram’s BE degree was his ‘ticket’ into the engineering industry. “Although I don’t use all my knowledge from university, the skills I’m finding most useful are the ability to learn, co-operate and work as team.”

“I have been an Awhina whanau member since I started my degree. Being in Awhina kept me grounded, reminded me of who I am and where I come from and ensure I completed my degree!”
