Official RDA Toolkit - June release and National Library updates to policy statements
Kia ora koutou, The June 2026 update of the Official Resource Description and Access (RDA) Toolkit<https://www.rdatoolkit.org/about> is now live. We are delighted to share that this release includes 287 newly added and changed policy statements from Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand (NLNZ). Every element page and option in the Toolkit is now supported by a corresponding NLNZ Policy Statement. We have also updated our NLNZ Guidance<https://access.rdatoolkit.org/Document/Document?documentId=d9c0232c-5588-4984-871e-046a4bff1165> and NLNZ Encoding<https://access.rdatoolkit.org/Document/Document?documentId=d7809696-408f-4f53-b361-1222d8062037> documents, providing additional support for descriptive practice in Aotearoa New Zealand. For a full overview of our approach to resource description using RDA, and links to all our supporting documentation please see our page NLNZ approach to resource description<https://access.rdatoolkit.org/Document/Document?documentId=efa32f78-2ecd-4f18-ba7e-6db9fa223ed9>. Changes to the RDA Toolkit This is a relatively small release from the RDA Steering Committee (RSC). Please see June 2026 RDA Toolkit Release<https://www.rdatoolkit.org/news/rda/june-2026-rda-toolkit-release> Updates to NLNZ Policy Statements Recent additions and updates may be of particular interest, including guidance on: * creating access points for collective agents (such as iwi, hapū, and agents using joint pseudonyms), and * recording values that appear in non-Roman scripts on resources. We are planning to update our Niche Academy tutorials<https://my.nicheacademy.com/natlib.gov.nz?category=27693> so they align with the latest NLNZ policy statements and guidance, as well as other changes to the RDA Toolkit. While we don’t have a confirmed timeline yet, this work is on our roadmap — so please stay tuned for updates. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of the RDA countdown clock displayed at the top of the Original RDA Toolkit.
