I think that I am suitable for this role because I am naturally a very good listener, and many of my friends have told me that they find it easy to confide in me. Also I currently have very few commitments and I do not have a part-time job outside of university, so I will be able to devote a significant amount of time and effort to listening and supporting other students with their concerns. I am very proactive and will make sure to make myself known to students and any other support staff for this course.

I think the experience and skills I’d gain from doing this would be invaluable, and I would hate to miss this opportunity.

I'm studying a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours), majoring in Software. I’ve always had a massive interest in computer science, specifically developing programs. Last year at high school, I was fortunate enough to hold the Student Head of Technology leadership position. It meant I worked with students and staff’s technology needs while also assisting our IT technician with tasks. I really enjoyed the work, and I’m hoping a class rep position would allow me to continue this.

Excluding the leadership positions I have been privileged enough to take during my years at high school, there is always this sense of fulfilment that I feel whenever I am able to provide help and support to people who are really in need of this - especially in times where we do not have a clue what is to be expected. Whether this is class content, class location, genuine questions to do with the course, or even a conversation about how your day has been going. I am able to work efficiently and collaboratively with the lecturer and students to make sure that we a-okay with current and future plans. This is evident by the fact that I am studying at Victoria University with the Raukaraka(leadership) scholarship. Not only will this role of class representative help me to strengthen my leadership qualities, but also make the lives of as many students as I can help to give me the fulfilment and satisfaction that keeps everyone going! It - for real - must be hard for 1 lecturer to single-handedly carry the entire class over the course of the many weeks this course runs. This is where I am able to pop in and ease the work of the lecturer and students and come to a mutual understanding of all aspects. Let's make our first year of university simpler in every way possible!
