The final version of the agenda will be published just before the meeting begins, but the agenda is not expected to substantively change. As previously announced, this will be a two-week virtual meeting (12-15 October and 20-23 October), which will use a mix of asynchronous and video meeting styles. It is not possible to have observers at the asynchronous meetings due to software constraints. Outcomes from that portion of the meeting will be publicly reported as soon as practical. However, the public session of the agenda will be discussed in a Zoom video call which will be open to observers. This call is scheduled for Thursday 15 October at 21:00 UTC/GMT (Wednesday 14 October at 5 pm EDT). It will be a two hour call. The RSC offers apologies to those for whom this is an inconvenient time; the group rotates calls throughout time zones to share the burden of middle-of-the-night calls. One of the papers is on "The reclassification of non-Western art at UCL Library" by Thomas Meehan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pukdl7NNJkA&list=PL1jZ6RAW3dE246cEV1d-YTW9Q… CILIP is the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, the principal professional library association in the U.K. Meehan discusses the Garside classification that they use for art at the University College of London Library. M is the letter for modern art and there are numbers for a dozen or so countries (MF for France, MG for German-speaking countries) and then MX is for everything else, e.g., Africa, Brazil, Latin America, Nigeria, Norway. He and his cataloging and art specialist colleagues developed numbers for the individual countries and continents and added further breakdown for special artists. They used various capabilities of Alma along with Excel and MarcEdit to create class numbers for the 1800 books in the MX portion of the scheme. I found it interesting even though the Garside scheme is unique to UCL. The issues are not unique however. Meehan admits that subject cataloging issues like "Illegal aliens" present more complications. National Library survey of the New Zealand cataloguing community - results available

We would like to thank everyone who responded, and particularly acknowledge the many people who provided useful comments. A report of the results of this survey can be found on the reports and research section of the National Library of New Zealand website<https://natlib.govt.nz/librarians/reports-and-research/survey-of-the-new-ze…>. You will see that there are some follow-up actions for the National Library, which we will work on during the remainder part of 2020 and into 2021. This will include working with CatSIG in undertaking some research into the make-up of the current New Zealand cataloguing community, the kind of tools and workflows used and current challenges. This will help us as we move toward the implementation of the new Toolkit for RDA (Resource Description and Access). I’ve just had an email from Bobby Bothman, who is a Library Services Professor at Minnesota State University: You write at an opportune time for me, because a colleague and I are working on a theme issue for Cataloging and Classification Quarterly. We are looking for leaders in the cataloguing world living or deceased, who have had a significant impact on cataloguing and classification. We have a good list of names from Europe and North America, but we are missing names from most of the rest of the world. Right now we are just compiling names. To celebrate Te Wiki o te reo Māori, I’ve worked with out Mātauranga Māori Advisor Geraldine to write an article showing how you can use Māori Subject Headings across a diverse range of books. We chose ten super varied books from our collections, assigned Ngā Upoko Tukutuku<https://natlib.govt.nz/librarians/nga-upoko-tukutuku>, and then wrote about that process of finding the right headings, and what it means in terms of antiracism and decolonisation. You can use Māori Subject Headings in MARC using 650 | $2 reo - there’s also a big bibliography, so I hope you find it interesting.
