Subject: Anchor Archive Zine Thesaurus: an alternative to LCSH
If you've ever been frustrated by LCSH, consider taking a look at the Anchor Archive Zine Thesaurus: https://anchorarchive.org/subject-thesaurus/ As of this month, the thesaurus now has a MARC code for use in a 650 _7 subfield 2 (zst); see that announcement at: https://loc.gov/marc/relators/tn231205src.html
The Zine Subject Thesaurus is a general vocabulary that's not just for zines—it might come in handy for other radical resources in your collections, or for terms where LCSH seems out-of-date or particularly conservative. A group of volunteer librarians recently reviewed the entire vocabulary to improve consistency in hierarchical structure and terminology. Please share the word and let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Violet
