A change in coding for NLNZ local genre/form terms

Kia ora koutou, The National Library of New Zealand (NLNZ) is changing the subfield 2 coding of its established local genre/form terms, and dropping the use of subfield 5 for these terms. Our practice had been to code our local genre/form terms as 655 7 ‡a <term> ‡2 local ‡5 Nz (for example, 655 7 ‡a Sophisticated picture books. ‡2 local ‡5 Nz) From 14 July 2025 onwards, we will be using 655 7 ‡a <term> ‡2 nznb (for example, 655 7 ‡a Sophisticated picture books. ‡2 nznb) The change in coding eliminates the need for subfield 5, and provides consistency with our other authority work. You can request a file of MARC21 authority records for NLNZ genre/form terms by contacting nznb(a)dia.govt.nz<mailto:nznb@dia.govt.nz>.
