[apologies for cross-posting] Kia ora, Just a reminder that the live RSC (RDA Steering Committee) discussion of the two open working group proposals is going to be held on Zoom early on the morning of August 3. The session is 2 hours in duration, beginning at 7am NZST, so 5am AEST and even earlier as you move west. I wonder how many other NZ libraries are using Homosarus? This work has previously been done by a single Examples Editor but in future will involve a working group led by the Examples Editor to collaborate together. Kia ora koutou, Reminder and extension of deadline: The LIANZA CatSIG Committee is planning a new online series of professional development talks for September-October 2023, and we’d love to hear from you! We are seeking people interested in presenting for session, lightning talks or discussion panels, including one of use of MarcEdit. All the talks will be held online via Zoom. Other topics our community are keen to hear about include: · Beginner’s cataloguing · Serials cataloguing · Music, cartographic, rare books and other specialist cataloguing · Māori subject headings · Vocabularies · Authority control · Ethics in cataloguing · And more! If you have other ideas for topics you might be interested is hearing about or presenting on, please let us know. Sessions are usually around 40 minutes in length, and 10-minute lightening talks are welcome also. Free webinar series in June: Finding your way with RDA

Kia ora koutou, The Oceania region RDA Committee (ORDAC) is pleased to present a series of three webinars exploring concepts from the Official RDA guidance, presented by ORDAC member and Oceania RSC representative Charlotte Christensen based at the National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa. The RDA Guidance chapters are key to understanding Official RDA works concepts and how to interact with the standard. These sessions provide the step before beginning to describe a resource, exploring terminology and structure that will be key to following more community-focused sessions in the future. The guidance is relevant to all descriptive institutions and communities, not just libraries, and no prior knowledge of Official RDA is assumed for attendees. Upcoming RDA Steering Committee meeting 18-27 October 2022

Kia ora koutou, The public agenda for the upcoming RDA Steering Committee meeting has been posed on the RSC website: http://rda-rsc.org/node/726 First, there are three proposals that will be discussed: * RSC/RSCSecretary/2022/2 - Proposal to correct the terms “multipart monograph” and “serial” * RSC/RSCSecretary/2022/3 - Proposal to adjust instructions in four “restriction on” elements in Manifestation and Item * RSC/RSCSecretary/2022/4 - Proposal to amend and clarify instructions in Manifestation “place of” elements If you have any comments or feedback about any of these proposals please do send them on to ORDAC to incorporate into our regional response by Friday 14 October. All comments will be welcome – please send directly to me: anoushka.mcguire(a)dia.govt.nz<mailto:anoushka.mcguire@dia.govt.nz> Second, this meeting will be a mix of online Zoom calls and asynchronous discussions and these three proposals will be discussed at a Zoom call that will be open to observers.
