To inform the Review it is critical that LIANZA is able to provide clear examples and evidence about how copyright is and is not working for New Zealand libraries. The survey should take between 15 to 25 minutes to complete. Your responses will be saved so that you can exit the survey and return to it later. We welcome multiple responses from institutions as staff with different roles will provide a valuable range of perspectives and stories. The survey includes questions about the following: * use of, and thoughts about, the current exceptions in the Act * how copyright concerns have impacted on projects and services * how copyright concerns have impacted digitisation * copyright concerns in making content from your collections available online * Issues with orphan works * copyright and meeting the needs of people with disabilities * issues with works in obsolete formats * use of copyright-protected works * challenges to your institution's use of copyright-protected material * tensions between licensing agreements for digital content and exceptions in the Act * the impact of possible change to New Zealand’s copyright term * what you would look for in copyright reform It is not required that you answer all the questions, so if you can only comment on some or even one of these question areas, please do consider doing the survey. In addition to you completing the survey, the LSCC is very keen to explore in more depth some of the copyright stories we know are out there. At the end of the survey there is an invitation to provide your name and email if you would be willing to be contacted by a member of the Committee to talk about your copyright experiences. Work is full-time or part-time and we offer genuinely flexible working hours including school hours and the potential to work some hours from home. Cataloguers at Wheelers are responsible for performing a variety of bibliographic duties in the customers Library Management Systems, including original cataloguing and bibliographic record upgrades of books and DVDs. Cataloguing is done according to national and international practices and standards (RDA, AACR2, MARC21, LCSH, LCNA and Dewey 23) as well as customer requirements. Cataloguers will function as part of a team of professionals and paraprofessionals to ensure that outgoing materials meet company standards in terms of quality, timeliness and quantity. At least 3 years recent cataloguing experience is preferred. Experience with original cataloguing would be an advantage but training will be provided. The current terms of reference (below) were adopted in 2009: 1) Review and maintain IFLA's FRBR family of conceptual models on an ongoing basis, developing revisions when needed; 2) Develop and make available guidelines and interpretative documents to assist those applying the models; 3) Promote the models and encourage their use in all appropriate information organising communities and maintain links with relevant groups both within IFLA and in other communities. The FRBR family of conceptual models goes beyond the three original IFLA models, FRBR, FRAD and FRSAD; it includes FRBROO and the new IFLA Library Reference Model, soon to be endorsed as an IFLA standard. FRBR Review Group members serve 4-year terms, and new members are eligible for one renewal of an additional 4 years. The FRBR Review Group holds two meetings during IFLA’s annual World Library and Information Congress, and sometimes a third meeting, as needed for the work that has to be accomplished. During the WLIC in Wroclaw, the Review Group will meet twice. Nominees should be experts in areas relevant to conceptual modeling of bibliographic data, with a sound knowledge of the FRBR family of conceptual models. In the next four years, one of the primary responsibilities of the RG will be to promote FRBROO and IFLA LRM, to develop interpretive and supporting documents that assist those who are applying the models, and to liaise with the communities and projects that are using the models in specific applications. Review Group members must be able to get funding on their own for traveling to IFLA meetings. Nominees do not need to be a member of the Standing Committees of the Cataloguing, Bibliography or Subject Analysis and Access Sections to be eligible for the Review Group, but should either be a personal member of IFLA or work at an institution/be a member of an association that is a member of IFLA. Ngā Upoko Tukutuku Māori Subject Headings Update for Paengawhāwhā/April 2017

Tēnā tātou katoa We are pleased to announce that Ngā Upoko Tukutuku, the Māori Subject Headings project has completed another upload of new kaupapa/terms. These terms came from the work of Te Whakakaokao, the Māori Subject Headings Working Group, at a hui held in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. There are 16 new terms that have been added to Ngā Upoko Tukutuku and are ready for use in library catalogues, and a number of changed terms. We welcome requests for new terms. New terms – Āperira/Paengawhāwhā/April 2017 1. Hura kōhatu -- A contemporary ceremony to unveil the headstone 2. Kairangahau – Researchers, Academics 3. Māhanga -- Twins 4. Manawaroa -- Resilience 5. Manu taratihi – Kites (Manu taratihi) 6. Pukapuka mapi -- Atlases 7. Rauemi matua – Primary sources 8. Te maru koiora -- Biosecurity 9. Uhi – Chisels, Tā moko 10. Recent Changes - Āperira/Paengawhāwhā/April 2017 Some new form and genre terms have been created. These include: Pukapuka mapi (Atlases) and Rauemi matua (Primary sources). We now also have a term for Researchers (Kairangahau). The terms relating to relationships have been revised and clarified. Tūhono is now a separate term that describes any form of relationship or connection, and Mārenatanga (Marriage) has been redefined as a narrower term of Tūhono. A term has been added for resilience, Manawaroa. New terms relating to repatriation and the return of cultural and physical remains have been created. These include Whakahoki, a general term for repatriation, Whakahoki koiwi (Repatriation of human remains), Whakahoki taonga (Repatriation of taonga), and Whakahoki toi moko, which is used for the repatriation of toi moko. We now have a term for biosecurity, Te maru koiora. This is used for measures that are taken to stop the spread or introduction of harmful organisms to human, animal and plant life. Two new terms for chisels have been added. Whao is used to describe all-purpose chisels and Uhi is the term for chisels that are used for Tā moko. The scope of the term Kōkiri mana pōti (Suffrage movement) has been clarified.
