The agenda for this meeting is not currently available, though should be up on the RSC website shortly (www.rdatoolkit.org<http://www.rdatoolkit.org/>). Discussion of the Religions Working Group paper will be included in this meeting. There is also a newly released paper from the Extent Working Group (https://www.rdatoolkit.org/sites/default/files/uploads/RSC_ExtentWG_2024_1.…) but this will be discussed in November to allow sufficient time for consideration. The public session for this July meeting will be held for two hours on Tuesday 16 July 9pm-11pm CEST, which for us is on the morning of Wednesday 17 July starting at 3am AWST/5am AEST/7am NZST. These public sessions are not recorded, but are an opportunity to see the RSC's work for yourself and to be involved in the development of RDA. Ahead of that, the Religions Working Group have released a proposal to adjust instructions for the element Corporate body: preferred name of corporate body, to make them less Christian-based and more relevant to other religious communities. More NLNZ Official RDA training resources available

Kia ora koutou In February 2024, NLNZ cataloguers began the second phase of our Official RDA training. This phase began with three days of presentations, discussions, quizzes and interactive activities. The presentations and quizzes have been repackaged as Niche Academy tutorials and are now available on the NLNZ Niche Academy site. https://my.nicheacademy.com/natlib.gov.nz This second phase of training is a deeper dive into concepts preparing cataloguers for practical training. NLNZ cataloguers are now well into the practical phase of training and we are planning for implementation. The training resources for this practical training will be made available later in the year. Survey on AI in relation to RDA

Kia ora, apologies for cross-posting, The RDA Board-RDA Steering Committee joint working group on AI in cataloguing is conducting a landscape review of how people are using AI and machine-assisted cataloguing in their work. They have created a survey and would encourage anyone using RDA (Original or Official) to fill it in. Anyone not currently using RDA but considering doing so in the future is welcome to do so as well. RDA Steering Committee meeting for April

Kia ora, Next week is the RSC's April meeting, and there will be discussion of our ORDAC proposal on dual-language names. RDA proposal for community review

Kia ora, The RDA Steering Committee's Technical Working Group have put together a short proposal on a technical aspect of the RDA elements relating to work groups. This is a fairly new concept but the proposal is straightforward - it's about where the elements sit in the hierarchy, rather than changing the elements themselves. National Library of New Zealand RDA Toolkit update: Policy Statements and draft documentation now available

Tēnā koutou/Greetings to you all, The National Library of New Zealand has reached another significant milestone in our RDA journey with another load of Policy Statements to the RDA Toolkit. Following the January 2024 release, these are now visible at https://access.rdatoolkit.org/. Where are the Policy Statements? You can explore our Policy Statements in the RDA Toolkit via the link in the Policies tab or by selecting ‘NLNZ PS’ from the menu at the top right of any of the element pages. If the NLNZ Policy Statements don’t appear in the drop-down list, you will need to ensure you have ticked ‘NLNZ PS’ in your Views. What Policy Statements are included? The NLNZ have loaded 98% of all the Policy Statements we intend to add to the RDA Toolkit. Our intention is to have Policy Statements at every element in the RDA Toolkit plus at all options on Entity and Guidance pages. If you don’t see any Policy Statements where you expect one, it is likely this is one of the few left to load. What about supporting documentation? With the January release we have published draft versions of some of our supporting documentation. Throughout the NLNZ Policy Statements you’ll see references to the NLNZ Guidance. This is a document to support cataloguers to use the NLNZ Policy Statements in conjunction with the RDA Toolkit. The package consists of: * a plan for a seven-week programme of weekly discussions; * weekly prescribed readings and Niche Academy tutorials; * a Further Reading List.
