VR Training Simulator for Cardiac Catheter Ablation Procedure

Arrhythmia refers to abnormalities of the heart rhythm, and it is considered a life-threatening pathology. Catheter ablation is a minimally invasive procedure which provides the best therapeutic outcomes to cure the arrhythmia. The procedure consists of a series of intraoperative and training challenges that could potentially affect the procedure outcome. This research project examines how Extended Reality (XR) technologies (AR/VR) can be used to improve the cardiac catheter ablation procedure for electrophysiologists with a tool called CardiacEPX.
