Hints and Resources

Here are some hints and resources to help you prepare your poster.

The poster size is A1 (594 x 841 mm), landscape or portrait format. If it is difficult for you to print it out at this size, feel free to assemble it from several smaller sheets (up to a total size of A1). We will provide boards to mount the posters on as well as drawing pins, BluTack or something similar for fixing them to the boards. It is your responsibility to print out the poster prior to the conference and to bring it along, please do not submit an electronic copy of it to us as we are unable to print it for you.

There are many Web sites that provide information on poster design. We suggest that you look through this information if you have not presented a poster before. Here are some sample sites:

Poster Madness

There will be a Poster Madness session prior to the start of the posters session where each poster presenter will have 1 minute to advertise their poster. This presentation should be interesting and fun giving people a reason to come and see your poster. Try and limit yourself to one or a few slides as you will only have 1 minute for your presentation and we will be enforcing this time limit very strictly.

Slides for your Poster Madness Presentation must be sent to Ben Palmer.before Monday 5 April.

Paper Presentation Guidelines

Here are some hints and resources to help you prepare your presentation.

The presentation time is 12 minutes and 3 minutes for questions and discussion after the presentation. The session chairs will indicate if you are running out of time during your presentation and will ensure that the total presentation time doesn't exceed 15 minutes.

We will provide a computer and a data projector. By default we support presentations in Microsoft Powerpoint or PDF format. You may bring your presentation on either a USB stick or a CD. You may also email your presentation to us prior to the conference if this is more convenient, if you take this option please ensure that you receive confirmation from us that your presentation has been received.

If you have any technical requirements beyond those given above, please let us know before Monday 5 April and we will try to accommodate your request. The sooner you advise us of any such requirements, the greater the chance that we can organise whatever you need.
