Alleviating Loneliness in Migrant Communities with VR

Loneliness is a subjective experience a person gets due to the discrepancy between their desired and actual social relationships. It is an emotional state felt differently from person to person where one can have few relationships and not feel lonely, but another can have a very larger circle of people but still feel lonely. Statistics show different categories of people who are feeling lonely in New Zealand and recent migrants are one such community. There is a possibility to help migrants alleviate their loneliness with culturally sensitive Virtual Reality (VR) interventions.
